Docue Drive makes it easier to restrict user permissions. User permissions can be restricted by creating folders. Users can be granted access to only those folders whose documents they are allowed to view.

It is a good idea to create separate folders for documents that do not need to be viewed by every user on the account. Docue's new sharing features make it possible to safely share documents and folders between users. This tutorial will explain user types, permission settings, and user access to folders.

User types

There are two user types: Admin and Memeber.

An Admin for an account has access to all documents and settings in the account. Admins can modify the permissions of other users and add folders and folder groups.

If a user does not need access to all documents stored in the account, Admins can define separate Member-permissions for them. Different permissions can be defined for each Member based on the folders to which the user is granted access.

Permission settings

Permissions can be set either when inviting a user to the account or later from the Settings menu under Users. To start setting permissions, either go to the Invite user-section or select the three dots next to the name of a user on the account and "Edit access".

When selecting permissions, you will see which folders the user has access to. You can uncheck a folder and add folders from the +Add folder section. Remember to save your changes when you are finished.

User access to folders and documents

A Member can view documents that are stored in the folder to which they have access. A document can be stored in only one folder, but a Member can be granted access to multiple different folders. Member's rights to folders are not dependent on each other, so each user can be given the exact rights that are needed if desired.
